Private Credit PE Funds Equity Co-Investments

Founded in 1862, John Hancock Life Insurance Company has been providing private capital financing solutions to U.S. middle market companies for decades. In 2001, the Hancock Capital Management team was established to spearhead these activities. Today HCM, a wholly-owned subsidiary of John Hancock, manages over $5.8 billion in capital for John Hancock and its partners.

HCM has sponsored five third-party funds to invest in Private Credit transactions as well as one third-party fund to invest in Equity Co-Investments alongside John Hancock. Limited partners in these funds include: insurance companies; public, private, and Taft-Hartley pension plans; endowments, family offices, and others. Timeline

    1994 Senior members of current HCM team begin making private credit and equity investments as members of John Hancock’s Investment Team
    1998 John Hancock launches its first Private Credit Fund
    2001 HCM team formed to focus on private credit and equity investments for John Hancock and third parties
    2002 Second Private Credit Fund launched
    2004 Third Private Credit Fund launched
    2006 HCM expands its private equity focus and formalizes its Private Equity Fund Investment and Equity Co-Investment programs
    2007 Fourth Private Credit Fund launched
    2012 Fifth Private Credit Fund launched
    2017 First Equity Co-Investment Fund launched. HCM expands its Private Credit platform to include Senior Debt.
    2018 Over $5.8 billion deployed across HCM's platform 1
